Tom Fellows is the research manager at the National Governance Association and has been conducting research around school governance for nearly five years. Some of his more recent research outputs including work around executive headteachers, headteacher recruitment and headteacher performance appraisal. Tom has also done extensive work around multi-academy trusts (MATs) and recently co-authored a major new report exploring MAT governance. Tom also authored NGA’s guidance for governing boards on the pupil premium in 2014 and co-authored a research report entitled Spotlight on Disadvantage in 2016, tracing the governing boards’ role in spending, monitoring and evaluating pupil premium funding.
